Core Element prepares students for a bright future in STEM.
One way we do this is through Core Element’s annual Summer STEM Institute where teachers learn to deliver hands-on, minds-on learning experiences to engage students in the classroom. In addition, our Hands-On STEM Summer Camp offers an innovative approach to learning — pairing teachers and students who work side-by-side as they explore robotics and programming skills. Since 2007, Core Element has trained nearly 625 teachers and impacted more than 60,000 students.
Our success is visible by the accomplishments of students like Anthony, age 13, who was introduced to robotics and programming when he attended the Core Element Arduino camp in 2015. At the conclusion of the camp, Anthony, and his fellow campers each received their own Arduino to continue their exploration and learning at home.
Armed with the skills he learned at camp, the 8th grader used the Arduino to develop an award-winning science fair project, an Arduino-based gas sensor. Anthony placed second in his district then moved on to the state competition and won first place.
Curious to see what more he could create; Anthony has since developed an eye writer that uses the pupil and eye movements to draw. His curiosity and determination were recognized in a national STEM competition that earned Anthony a sizeable project grant.
Anthony’s success is one of many examples of students who have flourished in STEM as a result of Core Element’s work with teachers and students.
Please make a year-end donation today here to support Core Element’s efforts to help students like Anthony discover and pursue their interest in STEM and achieve success in and beyond the classroom.
Your gift will facilitate Core Element’s mission to enhance the quality of teaching in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through teacher professional development. Together we can prepare our children for a promising future in STEM!
